Separate and Apart

So, you may be asking... what separates Thoroughbred Catalog from other online sites that sell horses? There are many reasons why this site is ideal for its target audience, and why other services fall short.

Only Thoroughbred Catalog targets the commercial Thoroughbred sales marketplace. Other online services such as EquineNow allow the seller to sell a horse and post images and a video (one video only) at a very reasonable price, but does not group the horses by sale for the Thoroughbred marketplace. Also, EquineNow allows any seller to sign up and post any kind of horse.

Thoroughbred Catalog only grants consignor accounts to known, verified Thoroughbred consignors, breeders, trainers, and owners. Consignors are not able to sign themselves up and start posting horses. They must request an account from me, have a phone conversation or e-mail exchange with me, and be verifiable participants in the commercial Thoroughbred industry, or, if they are new in the industry, provide a reference of a known industry participant. After invitation or verification, the consignor can then be granted an account on a separate user management system than what is used when buyers sign themselves up. This level of control helps to ensure the integrity of the horses posted to our database and some security to both the buyers and consignors involved.

Our prices are the most competitive in the horse industry. A site called Equine Gateway charges $99 for 90 days of private sales, with limited photos and no videos, or $149 for that same 90 period with an increased photo limit and ONLY ONE video... and again, anyone with (or without) a horse can sign up and post without any vetting or verification. Ad-hoc user management is a breeding ground for fraudulent use. Another Thoroughbred site, Thoroughbred Showcase charges fairly low fees but also allows any user to post horses. Thoroughbred Catalog offers unlimited photos and videos. Only potential buyers can sign themselves up. If they want to contact the consignor, they have to do so using more traditional means of phone or e-mail. The commercial Thoroughbred industry is not just a horse business, it's also a people business.

Only Thoroughbred Catalog allows multimedia posts associated with a horse in a commercial sale with embeddable views of each sale or consignment. Why go anywhere else to find your next racehorse or breeding prospect?
